A Type D bulk bag is intended for use in the presence of flammable vapours or gases or flammable dusts with an ignition energy of 3mJ or less

Type D FIBCs are made of a material with an insulating layer (coated film or sheet) on the inside of the FIBC.

All layers of a multi-layer FIBC must maintain close and secure contact.

Although usually made of woven polypropylene (tough lightweight material), FIBC uses different fabric and fabric weights depending on the strength and safety factor of the container, Most bags are about the same size as a typical tray grid unit. This allows FIBC shippers and users to use existing in-plant equipment to handle them, such as forklifts, boom cranes or overhead cranes.
